Had no kids for the night, so this was our opportunity to sus what Canberra had to offer. Initially it was tricky to find out how to get in, but I found it eventually 😂 They had one tablet left down the back, so lucky us! We got left unattended for what felt like a while - so that was a bit disappointing - but I flagged A staff member down and they were super helpful. They had an assortment of drinks to choose from in the menu, some safe and plenty of interesting ones too. I decided to try two cocktails I wouldn't normally go for and I was pleasantly surprised. Vibe was pretty good and lighting low. Great spot for a catch up or date night. Would come again

My friends and I went here for birthday drinks and absolutely loved the vibe here as well as the service. Emma in particular was lovely and was able to squeeze us in on a busy night. The cocktails were delicious and the staff exceptional. I will definitely be coming here again :)

As a Melbournian with a soft spot for good whisky and great bars, I wandered into The Volstead Repeal on a local’s tip — and I’m glad I did. The whisky list is sharp, the staff know their stuff, and the vibe strikes that rare balance between refined and genuinely local. It’s the kind of place that feels curated without trying too hard. I’ll be back, no doubt — and next time, I’m bringing friends.

Not the easiest place to find but that’s the idea right? Keep an eye out for the green VR sign down the alleyway to the left of the post office. Service was fantastic and whisky list was endless. My friends and I had a great night here, would happily go back!

My wife and I came here for our wedding anniversary and it didn't disappoint! Massive selection of whiskies to choose from, fantastic cocktails, and awesome service. The cheeseboard was perfect. Lucy looked after us so well with her excellent drinks recommendations. Looking forward to our next visit!

My wife and I visited recently, to use a Christmas gift voucher from family members who know I love whisky. We found great atmosphere, knowledgeable, friendly and pleasant staff, and of course a fabulous range of global whiskies. I started with a Bruachladdich Island Barley since I wanted to compare it with their Bere Barley which I bought at the distillery in 2016. I found the similarities rewarding. My wife loved the cocktails and we both enjoyed a few different foods. All in all, Volstead Repeal is a great venue and a superb place to sample a humungous range of single malts.

On a weekend trip to Canberra, wanted a break from the standard hotel bars and found Volstead Repeal near by. A charming bar down a small pathway (semi hidden) is this little gem. It was almost full but we managed a couple of seats at the bar. The vibe was a comfortable buzz. Enough energy but also hold a conversation without yelling. Strong range of cocktails and an impressive collection of whiskies. Enjoyed a few cocktails, Irish coffee and a Nikka from the barrel. All excellent and served by friendly knowledgeable staff who looked like they were enjoying themselves. Next time you’re in Canberra, drop in and enjoy a drink.. or six. 🥃🍸🍹

Visited a friend in Canberra and he took me here as the "go to" whiskey/cocktail bar. It did not disappointed! Lovely cocktails with a great range of cocktails and drinks to choose from. Amazing friendly knowledgeable staff. Came back again a month later for work and had to go again. Even took the young daughters in for a mocktail for a bit of fun. I'd come here every time i visit Canberra if I was feeling a drink.

Hidden little gem down a lane off Mort St, this bar feels secretive and exclusive but warm and the staff very friendly and welcoming. We had four cocktails between us and all were delicious and made with flair. Highly recommend and will definitely return when next in Canberra.
